Elliotsblog.com reported today that the domain name matching of the Vice President of the United States JoeBiden.com expired and could be heading for auction.
I checked out the parked page that NetworkSolutions.com is serving up now that they as the registrar are in control of the expired domain name.
I couldn’t help but notice some links on the parked page that will probably not exactly thrill the Whitehouse like “Do You Hate Obama” ‘Poll-Impeach Obama?” and Repeal Obama Care”
The results change slighly depending on what browser your using and when you hit the domain name JoeBiden.com
A few days ago we pointed out that a Federal Court judge refused to dismiss a case brought against Godaddy for serving up ads on parked page on trademark Infringing domains but one of the “dirty little secrets” of the domain industry is that domain name registrars make a lot of money parking expired domains of clients’
The court in the Godaddy case in its ruling said Godaddy wasn’t entitled to the safe harbor provision afforded to domain name registrars for just registering domain names even those that are trademark infringing domains.
As that case progress it will not just effect just Godaddy but all domain name registrars including these type of placeholder landing pages:
