Some paintings come quickly, others are a struggle. This one has taken many painstaking layers, many disappointing "endings" when I thought I was painting the last brushtroke, only to find it still didn't work. But perhaps there is more satisfaction in the final result of a creation that took so much effort and so many fresh starts?
In my last session with this new acrylic painting on canvas, I continued drawing circles in orange and red, getting into the deepest reds toward the bottom. I also added some variation by inserting darker colors amid the lighter layers. And here it is:
