Yeedi Vac 2 Pro Overview
The Yeedi Vac 2 Pro is the latest robotic vacuum from Yeedi, a company that got its start in 2020. Despite only having been in operation for a couple of years, Yeedi has already made a name for itself in the automated home helpers market.
The original Yeedi Vac blew us away with its efficient and effective vacuuming ability. Like its predecessor, the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro has 3,000 Pa suction and uses Visual SLAM navigation to map your home. This model also retains one of our favorite features, an automatic carpet sensor that keeps the robot off your carpets while in mopping mode.
The Vac 2 Pro also features an additional 3D structured light obstacle avoidance system.
But what truly sets this vac apart from the other Yeedi models is the oscillating mop module which moves the mop back and forth, scrubbing the floor as it moves. Previous iterations only had a simple drag behind mop.
Like all Yeedi Vac and Yeedi Vac Pro models, this unit is also compatible with the Yeedi Self Emptying Station. With this optional feature, the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro will empty its own dustbin each time it finishes cleaning. It only needs to be changed out about once a month for truly hands-off floor maintenance.
I had a chance to test the Vac 2 Pro and the Self Emptying Station in my own home. Keep reading to see my full Yeedi Vac 2 Pro review and see how this newest model stacked up against the versions we already love.
How the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro Performs
I put the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro to work in my home, testing it on various surface types. Here is where this model impressed and where it could still use some improvement.
Cleaning Power
I have long used Yeedi Vacs as my go-to comparison tester to see how well other robotic vacuums clean. This is the first Vac Pro I'll have the pleasure of testing. Let's find out if it will keep its status as the most effective robotic vacuum I've tested.
Vacuum
On first pass, the Vac 2 Pro seemed to do just as good a job in terms of vacuuming as the other Yeedi models I've tried.
Both the hard flooring and low to medium-pile rugs in my home looked visually very clean after vacuuming was complete. And I didn't notice any corners or areas that were missed.
To test the actual vacuuming performance of the Vac 2 Pro, I did two tests.
For the first, I pitted the Yeedi against my plug-in Shark vacuum to get an idea of how well this model cleans compared to a traditional high-suction deep cleaning vacuum.
As you can see from the picture, the Yeedi did a great job sucking up surface debris and hair. It even got a decent amount of fine, embedded dust that other robot vacuums usually leave behind.
What was left for the Shark to pick up after the Yeedi was done, was a lot more of that fine embedded dust and some embedded hair. Compared to other robotic vacuums, this one picked up more fine dust and hair and left almost no large debris for the Shark to suck up.
For my robot to robot comparison, I first vacuumed with the Trifo Ollie 4,000 Pa robo vac. Once that robot was done, I immediately set the Yeedi loose to vacuum the same area. As you can see from the pictures, the Yeedi found an impressive amount of fine dust and hair that the other vacuum left behind, despite having a lower suction rating.
Given these impressive results, I'll be using the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro for my robot vacuuming comparison tests in the future.
Mopping
We already know the Yeedi can vacuum, but how does this newest model live up to the mopping hype? Honestly, pretty dang well.
Previously, I had the pleasure of testing the Viomi V3 Max Robotic Vacuum. This specialty mopping vac uses a unique Y pattern to mop, essentially allowing for a double pass over wet floors to help remove stuck-on messes. Up to this point, the Viomi has been my go-to recommendation for mopping vacs.
The Yeedi Vac 2 Pro gives the Viomi a serious run for its money.
The scrubbing action of the Yeedi's oscillating mop washed away footprints and other surface marks and even removed some set-in spills. Unlike most mopping vacs that leave streaky, partially-cleaned tracks in their wake, the Yeedi left only a uniformly scrubbed floor.
I'm not going to go as far as to say this bot will make manually mopping obsolete, but it gets closer than most. If you start with a clean surface and run your Yeedi often on mop mode, I imagine most people could get away with extending their time between manual mops by a significant margin.
This new mop system wasn't without its faults, however.
Most notably, the mop pad is built into the module, which means you can't pull off the mop plate from the module for easy cleaning. You can remove the module from the robot and still wash it while attached, but you have to be careful not to get the electronic connections wet (or at least be sure they have time to dry before you plug the module into the robot).
Like other Yeedi's, this one has a carpet sensor that will keep it off your area rugs and carpets while in mop mode. Unfortunately, the oscillating mop does tend to catch the edge of lightweight rugs and move them around. So do expect to have to pick these items up before your Vac 2 Pro starts mopping.
Of course, if you anticipate this being a problem, you can easily set a virtual wall-restricted area around the carpet in the app. Doing so will prohibit the robot vacuum from approaching the troublesome carpet areas.
Yeedi Self Emptying Station
Auto-empty stations are a nice addition if you want your robotic vacuum to run on a schedule since you don't have to worry about remembering to empty it between cleans.
The optional Yeedi Self Emptying Station does everything any quality auto-empty station should. It can hold up to 30 days' worth of debris before the bag needs changing. And the lid has a tight seal that keeps odors and dust locked in.
The only downside I've noticed is that occasionally the vacuum path can get blocked and so the dustbin does not get entirely emptied. This is most likely to happen when the floor is really dirty since a lack of suction reduction sensors allows the dustbin to get overpacked.
However, if you anticipate this being a problem you can easily activate the High-Frequency Dustbin Emptying mode. This will instruct the robot to visit the dock station and auto-empty more frequently to avoid blockages.
Battery Life
Running the oscillating mop required Yeedi to add a larger battery to this model-5200mAh versus 2600mAh. This unit's battery can last up to 220 minutes if you run it on the lowest setting without the mop.
It's not going to last nearly as long with the mop on and the suction cranked up, but it should still have plenty of bandwidth to get the job done. I was able to mop my entire garden level floor (about 600 square feet) and still had 74% battery remaining when it was done.
Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance
The Yeedi Vac 2 Pro uses visual SLAM to navigate and create customizable maps of your home.
As we've discussed before, this method is not as quick as LIDAR navigation at building maps nor is it as precise. However, it does have some benefits.
For one, visual navigation combined with pressure sensor navigation (like on the Yeedi) allows the robot to go through curtains and other soft barricades. LIDAR robots interpret these soft separators as walls and will not navigate through them.
Most importantly, these robots have a lower profile since the sensors are on the front instead of the top. The Yeedi has an exceptionally low profile even compared to others of this type. In fact, the Vac 2 Pro was able to fit under my couch, marking the first time ever the tile under my couch has been mopped!
The maps made by the Yeedi are more rudimentary than other options, with the cleaning area contained within square boundaries that make deciphering where it is a little difficult. The customization of these maps is also limited to naming the rooms as they're determined by the robot and setting no-go and no-mop zones.
Yeedi promises a software update in June that will allow for room splitting and merging.
Obstacle Avoidance
Past iterations of Yeedi Vacuums have suffered from a lack of obstacle avoidance, but this model features improved 3D structured light sensors that are meant to help with this problem. This feature kicks on once the map is completed.
I could see a clear difference in how this robot navigated around large obstacles like furniture and thick cables compared to previous models. It was much less likely to knock into furniture and slowed on approach toward moving objects such as pets crossing its path.
The Vac 2 Pro also did remarkably better handling small objects like toys, pet messes, and thin cables. As you can see from my obstacle avoidance test video, it was able to cleanly navigate around objects down to the size of a matchbox car when approaching them head-on. It did tend to bump objects that weren't directly in front of it but still managed to steer away from them without running them over.
This means that users no longer have to make sure the floor is completely clear before setting the vacuum to cleaning. This saves considerable time and makes it easier to just hit the "go" button.
Smartphone App and Functionality
As I've mentioned before, the Yeedi app is one of my favorites. It is simple and intuitive. The easy navigation is partly due to the layout that puts all major functions on the homepage.
The biggest downside of the app, as I've mentioned before, is that it can only save one map at a time. This means that the robot is only suitable for cleaning one level of your home. However, Yeedi promises a software update that will allow for saving multiple maps come mid-autumn 2022.
Part of what makes this app so easy to use is the reduced functionality of the robot. Still,it has plenty to offer for a robo vac focused on cleaning.
Functions and features of the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro include

- Custom Cleaning - Spot cleaning for spills.
- Four Vacuum Settings - Low, medium, and high suction settings plus vacuum off mode.
- Three Water Flow Levels - Adjust mop water flow based on flooring type and need.
- Cleaning Schedule - Set repeating schedules for no-hassle cleaning.
- Do Not Disturb - Silences verbal notifications and auto-empty when cleaning is activated during do not disturb periods.
- Auto-Boost Suction - Carpet sensor automatically boosts suction to max when carpet is encountered.
Yeedi Vac 2 Pro Alternatives
If your main focus for getting a robot vacuum is to keep your floors clean and mopped, then the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro is a great choice. But if you're after a little more, such as an onboard camera or multi-level capability, then there are better options.
If oscillating mopping is less of a concern for you, but you still love all the other great features this Yeedi has to offer, then the Yeedi Vac 2 might be your best choice. This robot has the same great obstacle avoidance system and provides the same deep vacuum clean but has a standard mop with a larger water reservoir.
Conclusion
A robot vac that can mop and vacuum can save you time and sanity. If you want one that does both exceptionally well, then look no further than the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro.
This robot vacuum penetrated deeper into carpets to get embedded hair and fine dust than any other we've tested and had no problem making quick work of larger debris. Thanks to the ingenious oscillating mop module, it is also one of the best mop robots we've looked at. So, whether you have hard flooring, carpets, or both, this Yeedi is here to keep them looking great.
