Yara Shahidi made an appearance on the Stephen Colbert show Thursday night rocking her James Baldwin T-shirt.
Yara, who turns 18 on Saturday, told Colbert that for her birthday, she’s having a voting party.

Eighteen x ‘18 is a creative story-telling platform, the actress and activist launched to engage her generation to speak their truth, get active, and vote.
Also, when Yara sat down with Oprah Winfrey at the legendary Apollo Theater, for Super Soul Conversations, the actress revealed that even though she got accepted into Harvard last year, she may not be matriculating come this fall.
“Everybody from the writers to the production understands how much I value my education and we’re doing our best to figure out how we want to make it work, but I feel pretty lucky to be able to make a commitment to a school… and to a show,” she said Wednesday during “Oprah at the Apollo.”
“I’m doing my best to figure it all out.”
