This Yak-3 is a Soviet fighter fielded in 1944, known for a high power-to-weight ratio giving it excellent performance and dogfighting abilities.  This particular example was  built in Romania in 2005 and heavily modified for air racing purposes.  Powered by a 1750 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2000 with an airframe weighing 5,300 pounds empty (less than 70 percent of the weight of a standard P-51D Mustang) allowed Steadfast to set a record of 416 mph for its weight class. This aircraft was exported to Australia in 2013.  Nikon D300 w/80-200mm.
