XOOX Brewmill is one of the newest gastropubs in Koramangala, Bangalore. Located right opposite to Social this place is huge. Spread over 3 floors it can accommodate more than 400 people at any time. The outlet was once a factory (hence the name ‘mill’), the structure still remains giving it a high ceiling and a distinctive architecture. The place is lively with loud music. You can choose to sit on high chairs as well as sofas. They even have a microbrewery where they create some amazing craft beer.
We went here to try out their Food and Beer pairing. The idea was to pair each of their craft beers with different foods so that the taste of each can be enhanced.
Course 1- Belgian Wit with Dehydrated Dosa: Belgian Wit beer was once of the best craft beers with a hint of orange and coriander; the pairing with Dehydrated dosa did work out quite well. The dehydrated Mangalorean dosa had beetroot version as well, it was served with tomato chutney which was the highlight.
Course 2- Japanese Dry Blonde Ale with Beetroot Carpaccio: Liked the dry Japanese Ale which had a crisp texture from the rice. The Beetroot carpaccio was a unique dish but the taste was good if not great.
Course 3- Nitro Milk Stout with Dimsums: The Nitro Milk Stout was a dark beer with chocolate and coffee, it had a creamy texture from the nitrogen gas. The beer was paired with Dimsums made with steamed vegetables and garlic sauce. Loved my dumplings!
Course 4- Scottish Ale with Bunny Chow: The Scottish Ale was another dark beer with a strong smoky caramel finish. It was served with the Bunny Chow. The Bunny Chow was filled with molten cheese (made with White Cheddar, Yellow Cheddar, Brie) served with garlic mushrooms on the side. If you love cheese this will surprise you.
Course 5- Hefeweizen with Pesto Fettucine: The Hefeweizen is probably my favorite among all as it has a fruity taste. The Pesto Fettucine was made in a creamy pesto sauce and topped with Parmesan cheese. The combo was excellent.
Course 6- Apple Cider with Tres Leches and Baked Alaska: Could never imagine tasting desserts with beer. But at XOOX you can try the Apple Cider with your desserts. The Tres Leches and the Baked Alaska both were fantastic. Loved the Tres Leches so much that we tried one more portion of it. Heavenly!
At XOOX you are bound to have a great time. The pairing of craft beer with food is a unique experience all together. The highlight of this visit was definitely their desserts and the amazing music!
