Xiaomi has finally unveiled its latest flagship smartphone Mi 6 in China after almost a year post the launch of their previous flagship the Mi5s.
As expected, Xiaomi has indeed unleashed a powerhouse of a device. a 5.15-inch display and is powered by a 3350mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with the latest 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 CPU coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. Incidentally, this is the same processor used in other flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium.
Xiaomi Mi 6 houses a whopping 6GB of RAM, a 5.15-inch display and is powered by a 3350mAh battery. On the imaging front, Xiaomi Mi6 comes with a 12-megapixel dual camera setup at the rear. Xiaomi stated that the Mi 6’s camera uses a similar dual camera setup as the iPhone 7 Plus to produce an amazing depth of field effect.
However, the camera setup present here is 12MP wide-angle lens + 12MP telephoto lens unlike any other regular Android smartphone that uses one Black and White and one Color sensor. Another important design element here is that the dual cameras are not protruding, hence blends well with the overall design. The phone comes with a ‘four-sided 3D glass’ design.
On the storage front, Mi 6 has 2 storage options 64GB and a 128 GB and the phone has a new splash-proof body with sealed SIM tray. A under-glass fingerprint sensor is located in the front under the home button. Xiaomi has deiced to do away with the headphone jack with Mi 6.
There are three versions that the company will be selling in the near future, with details listed below:
- 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage model: RMB 2499 ($362)
- 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage model: RMB 2899 ($421)
- 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage model and Ceramic body: RMB 2499 ($435)
The phone goes on sale from Mi.com and Mi Home Stores in China on April 28. An international expansion to “selected” markets will come later, Xiaomi said, although it didn’t provide specific dates for that.
