When Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix last year, it grabbed a lot of attention due to its bezel less design. It looked like a phone straight out of the future. There have been a few devices boasting borderless design, however, Mi Mix was outrageously gorgeous. Now, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the company is working on its successor, the Mi Mix 2
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Specifications
Unlike the first generation launch where the device was more of a surprise, this year we have a lot of information already available with us. The Mi Mix designer, Phillipe Starck was spotted with the Xiaomi team earlier today and later an official announcement on Chinese Microblogging site Weibo confirmed the development.
If the leaks are to be believed then the Mi Mix 2’s design will be nothing less than drool worthy. It is supposed to come with a whopping 93% screen-to-body-ratio unlike the 91.3% on the first generation phone, like Mi Mix, it will be made out of ceramic. Xiaomi is supposed to embed the fingerprint sensor under the display. The phone may come with flagship specifications and may easily have couple of variants with 6GB and another one

The phone may come with flagship specifications and may easily have a couple of variants with 6GB and another one with 8GB RAM. It is also said that the Mi Mix 2 will come with either Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor or a yet to be launched processor from Qualcomm (most likely Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SOC).
While Mi Mix was more of an experimental phone and carried a premium price tag however it was, received very well. Unfortunately, it was only available for sale in China. The company seems to have taken a leash out of the success of this phone and now also planning for a Mi Mix 2 lite variant. This would be an affordable variant keeping in mind that Xiaomi has got more success in the affordable range of smartphones rather than premium ones.
An affordable smartphone with almost 93% bezel-less design may turn out to be the perfect recipe for success. However, officially, all we know right now is that Xiaomi will launch the next generation of Mi Mix smartphone later this year.
