Doom Eternal is one of the new games from Xbox Game Pass and will be released on October 1st. It's a sequel to Doom from 2016, a reboot of the classic shooter franchise. It involves platforming and killing many, many (and many) demons. The game was well received when it launched in March, earning an 8/10 from our sister site GameSpot.
Gears 5 Ultimate
Gears 5 Ultimate is one of the crown jewels of Xbox Game Pass. The 2019 Blockbuster is one of the biggest first-party games on Xbox One, and the fact that games are its own kind on Game Pass shows how seriously Microsoft is investing in the service. It's available on both Xbox One and PC.
Age of Empires II Definitive Edition
Age of Empires II is the comfort food of gaming. The Definitive Edition of this iconic PC game was released on both Xbox One and PC last November. She's upscaled the game to 4K and added new campaigns. You can play on both platforms through Game Pass.
Forza Horizon 4
For non-first person shooters, Forza is arguably Microsoft's largest and best exclusive franchise. Forza Horizon 4 is set in a UK-based world and received huge acclaim when it was released in 2018. Forza Motorsport 7, where you drive on a track rather than the open road, is coming soon. This title will be released in Game Pass on October 8th.
Dead cells
When you're tired of the big budget first-person shooters, give Dead Space a try. It's a beautiful, colorful, Metroidvania-style action platformer that was released to great acclaim in 2018. It continues to be a cult favorite and well worth a download if you haven't played it yet (and even if you have). It can be played on both Xbox and PC via Game Pass Ultimate.
The outer worlds
Speaking of imaginative games, The Outer Worlds is an RPG by Obsidian, the gang behind Fallout New Vegas, and it's a winner. It takes place in an alternate universe where Theodore Roosevelt didn't regulate large US corporations at the beginning of the 20th century, which resulted in them ... apparently colonizing the galaxy. So essentially it's fallout in space. Game Pass Ultimate users can play it on both PC and Xbox.
Fate 2
Destiny 2 is a hugely popular loot shooter developed by Bungie, the gang who brought you the original Halo. It's not new after it hit Xbox One in 2017, however. Now is the perfect time to get into Destiny 2 - or get back in - with a franchise-changing expansion (according to Bungie), Beyond Light, kicking off in November.
Oxfree
Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller that originally released for PC, Mac and Xbox One in 2016 and has since been ported to iOS and Android, among others. It will take you less than five hours to hit, but it's a memorable story well worth witnessing.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Master Chief Collection is a reworked pack that includes Halo 1, 2 and 3, ODST, Rach and Halo 4. Yes, that's a lot of Halo. The game was criticized at release for poor online multiplayer and technical issues, but patches have since addressed those issues. This is a great way to prepare for Halo: Infinite next year.
Wasteland 3
Wasteland 3 is an isometric RPG. However, this description does not do it justice in any way, as this post-apocalyptic game is filled with an admirable mixture of tension, individuality and charm. Set in 22nd century Colorado, it includes both psychological clowns and a cult dedicated to Ronald Reagan. What more do you need
