Apple, at WWDC 2022, has announced Watchos 9, the main version of the next Watchos coming to the Apple Watch Series 4 and then, this fall. There are three new updates that need to be discussed – History of atrial fibrillation, sleep stage detection, and drug tracking. There are several exercise updates too, in addition to four new watches and improved complications.

Watchos 9: The top features come to the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer

Apple Watch can already detect irregular heart rhythm – atrial fibrillation – and with Watchos 9, users will be able to track the amount of time they spend in conditions through a new feature called the History of Afib. Health applications will provide details about how factors such as sleep and exercise can interact with their heart rhythm while at the same time allow them to share history with doctors. Apple has received the necessary permits from the FDA to send features even though availability outside the US can vary depending on the region.

Watchos 9 will also allow users to detect various stages of sleep while new drug applications will bring the ability to track, manage, and understand drugs to Apple Watch. Users will be able to easily direct their iPhone camera to add medicine. Apple will also give a warning to the interaction of drugs.

The fitness application will now be available for all iPhone users without the need for Apple Watch to start their fitness journey while the exercise update will carry a better metric to run.

Apple also introduced four new watch faces with Watchos 9 – Lunar, Metropolitan, Play Time, and Astronomy Remaster. Complications that are rich come to more watch faces and siri get a refreshed UI. Podcast will be available for children through family sharing, at Watchos 9.
