Exploration
Exploration is very important part of Wuthering Waves. Players are able to move around and explore the various parts of the Wuthering Waves map for loot boxes, monsters, puzzles, and more.
It is important to explore the map as much as possible for faster growth as opening boxes, doing side tasks and beating bosses for the first time will give you with Union level exp, Astrite and other rewards.
You will choose one resonator out of the three in your crew to be your primary character while traveling the planet. The current resonator is the one on show that you control. You can switch the active resonator anytime.
Outside of the town areas, there will be enemies moving around the map that will aggro as well as chase you if you get too close to them.

Combat
Combat in Wuthering Waves is very lively. While you can build teams made out of 3 Resonators (characters), only one will be active on the field, but you can switch between them at any time.
And the switch feature is actually built into the characters kits as each has an Intro and Outro skill that activate as they appear on the field or leave it (more about them later).
Gacha System
Wuthering Waves is a gacha game which means that to receive new characters and weapons, you will have to ‘pull’ them using in-game cash (which can also be bought using real life money).
The rate for pulling the highest value character (5★) are pretty low – sitting at 0.8%, so do expect a lot of work to receive who you want.
Resonators
Resonators are the playable units in Wuthering Waves. They are mainly gained via Convenes, the game’s gacha system. However, some Resonators can be gotten for free via in-game tasks or events.
Resonator Stats
- HP – The extent of damage a Resonator can sustain before dying.
- ATK – How much damage a Resonator deals,
- DEF – Reduces the damage a Resonator takes,
- Max Stamina – Determines how many continuous stamina using actions (dashing, dodging, climbing, swimming and some attacks use stamina) you can take before being forcibly stopped,
- Crit Rate – How likely it is for the Resonator to land a critical hit,
- Crit DMG – Determines the damage multiplier when landing a critical hit,
- Energy Regen – Determines how fast a Resonator charges energy for their Resonance Liberation (Ultimate),
- Resonance Skill DMG Bonus – Increases the damage of Resonance Skill,
- Basic Attack DMG Bonus – Increases the damage of Basic Attacks,
- Heavy Attack DMG Bonus – Increases the damage of Heavy Attacks,
- Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus – Increases the damage of Resonance Liberation (Ultimate),
- Elemental DMG Bonus – Increases all damage a character deals. Note that there are six different elements in the game and each element has its own separate Elemental DMG Bonus stat,
- Elemental DMG RES – Lowers the damage a Resonator absorbs from a particular Element.
- Healing Bonus – Increases the amount of healing a Resonator provides.
Resonator Elements & Weapons
Every Resonator in Wuthering Waves corresponds to one Element. The damage kind of a resonator’s attacks is dictated by their element.

The game has six elements right now:
- Glacio
- Fusion
- Electro
- Aero
- Spectro
- Havoc
Every Resonator in Wuthering Waves operates with a certain Weapon type. The kind of Resonator’s Weapon will help you to understand both which Weapons they may equip and generally how they battle.
The game has five weapon types for now:
- Broadblade
- Gauntlets
- Pistols
- Rectifier
- Sword
Resonator Skills
Every Resonator in Wuthering Waves has six distinct ability that characterize their playing style.
- Basic Attack is a Character’s auto-attack and is always ready. It’s generally the most used ability and it is usually the main way to create the various materials other abilities use. You can also trigger Heavy Attack by long-pressing the Basic Attack button.
- Resonance Skill is a battle skill that a Resonator can use with affects ranging from causing damage to healing your friends. This power normally has a cooldown and can not be used back to back.
- Resonance Liberation is usually their best fighting skill. To use Resonance Liberation, it must first be charged through certain battle acts such as causing damage to enemies or triggering Extreme Evasion. It must also be refilled after every use.
- Forte Circuit is a gaming defining skill that is unique for every Resonator. It is symbolized by a gauge above the life bar. Once it is ready, it will change into the color of that Resonator’s Element and will gain a waveform-like look. It can be triggered by using the right skills while it is open.
- Outro and Intro Skills are skills that trigger upon moving Resonator once the current Resonator has filled the Concerto Energy. It is symbolized by a gauge to the left of the life bar. Upon switching, the current Resonator will trigger their Outro Skill, increasing the next Resonator you are moving into. While Intro Skills are special moves that the next Resonator will perform.
Resonator Progression
Upgrading your Resonators in Wuthering Waves will improve their fighting skills, allowing you to face and beat the more tough content that the game offers.
The main ways for a Resonator to grow bigger in Wuthering Waves are:
- Increasing the Resonator level
- Upgrading the Resonator’s Fortes
- Unlocking the Resonator’s Resonance Chain
- Equipping Weapons
- Equipping Echoes
Character Level and Ascension
Each Resonator in Wuthering Waves has a Resonator Level going from 1 to 90 and gets extra stats as they level up.
Once a Resonator hits certain level goals, they will need to be raised in order to grow their level further.
Resonators start with a base max Level of 20. Each time you climb a Resonator, their level cap will grow by 10 up to a maximum of 90.
To climb a Resonator, you will need to gather materials from Boss Challenges and collect materials from enemies and plants in the overworld.
Also, know that your Union Level (Account Level) will also decide how many times you can climb a Resonator.
Even if you have all of the needed ascending items, you will not be able to climb a Resonator past a certain Level unless your account is also of the right Union Level.

Fortes
Fortes are a skill growth tree that each Resonator has. Unlocking and improving the different nodes in a Resonator’s Forte will provide them with stat bonuses, extra passive powers, and improvements to their 5 Skills.
Fortes can be improved by using materials gained by finishing Forgery Challenges, Weekly Challenges, and killing overworld enemies.
Additionally, remember that upgrading Fortes is dependent on your Resonator’s Ascension, thus you can’t improve Fortes until you have leveled your Resonator.
Resonance Chain/Wavebands
Resonance Chain improves Resonator’s skills or gives them with new passive perks. Each Resonator has 6 Resonance Chain changes with each update giving a different bonus.
Extra copies of the Resonator from Convenes (the gacha system) or via in-game jobs and events will unlock Resonance Chain enhancements. Called Wavebands.
Though compared to other games, you can also buy Wavebands from the in-game shop using a cash you earn from pulling – but the shop limits the amount of Wavebands you can purchase two per character (including the present rate-up characters).
The only exception to this is the Main Character. You can receive their Wavebands via in-game tasks and Relic Merchant awards.
Weapons
All Resonators may wear and guns are one kind of tools that provide a new passive and stat boosts to them.Weapons have a Level range from 1 to 90, same with Resonators.
Additionally promoted and leveled up are they. This will raise the stat boost they provide the attached Resonator.
Every weapon also has an additional boost known as Weapon power. Starting at Rank 1, a weapon power may be raised to Rank 5 using the Synthesis function.
You will have to spend copy Weapons of the one you are creating in order to utilize the Synthesis function. Every extra weapon you use will raise the Weapon’s Ability Rank by one.
Every weapon utilized as a synthesis component will be burnt and dead. Rising the Rank of a Weapon Ability will increase some or all of the bonus’s number part.
Recall that Weapons only equip if the Resonator can employ that specific weapon type.
Echoes
The second kind of kit in this game is echoes, which work as guns and things in a standard RPG game.
Equipping Echoes to your Resonator will give them a range of stat gains from HP to ATK to Energy Regeneration. Echoes will give your Resonators most of their stat gains in bulk.

- Every Echo has an active Echo ability.
- There are 5 total Echo slots. The initial slot Echo fitted will have active Echo Ability ready for your usage. The order of the rest does not matter.
- Each Echo comes with a COST requirement that ranges between 1 to 4 depending on the Echo’s Class. Each Resonator has a COST limit of 10 at the start and it is possible to upgrade it to 12 through Data Dock upgrades.Resonators only provide Echoes up to the COST limit.
Echo Classes appear in four different types:
- Common Class (1-COST)
- Elite Class (3-COST)
- Overlord Class (4-COST)
- Calamity Class (4-COST)
Every Echo has two main stats and up to five smaller ones. Although every Echo Class has set secondary major stats, primary main stats vary. The important numbers based on the Echo Class might be:
- Common Class – HP%, ATK%, DEF%
- Elite Class – HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Energy Regen%, Elemental Damage Boost*
- Overlord Class – HP%, ATK%, DEF% Crit Rate%, Crit DMG%, Healing Bonus%
- Calamity Class – HP%, ATK%, DEF% Crit Rate%, Crit DMG%, Healing Bonus%
*Elemental Damage Boost will be among the six possible elements. It is not an All Elemental Damage Boost.
The set primary statistics vary depending on the Echo Class:
- Common Class – Flat HP
- Elite Class – Flat ATK
- Overlord Class – Flat ATK
- Calamity Class – Flat ATK
