Würzburger Hofbräu‘s history begins in 1643 when it founded by Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp von Schonborn. Today, this is signified by the Crown in the star on their logo. Currently, the brewery is part of the Kulmbacher brewer group.
Julius Echter Hefe-Weiss is Würzburger Hofbräu’s Bavarian-style wheat ale.
Appearance: Heavy haze (not quite cloudy) peachy blonde, white head, great retention.
Aroma: Light clove, dried bananas, spicy with light citrus notes.
Taste: Bready, slight earthiness, yeasty, spicy finish.
Overall Impression: This one is on the drier spectrum for a weissbier with a slightly lighter mouthfeel than comparable beers. It’s very balanced with a nice level of carbonation typical of style. This is excellent option if you’re looking for a drier, spicier hefeweizen.Availability: In stores that carry German beers, imported by St. Killian Importing
