I know I haven’t posted in about twenty days. I am going to round that off to a month. It’s been a solid month since I’ve written. I apologize to all of you for that. This month is (and continues to be) one of the busiest months of my entire life. Between work, my brother’s wedding, regularly attending the gym, and making time for myself, I haven’t had much time to write.
People always say, “You shouldn’t make excuses. If you really want to do something, you will do it.” I completely agree. For those of you who do not know… I write for a living. That’s my job. I am a writer and I always plan to be. However, sometimes you need a break. Writing for my personal blog no longer felt like a break. It felt like a chore. With that being said, I thought that by putting it far from my radar (for a short period of time), it would allow me to find joy in it again once I started back up. Well, a little while turned into a month! I was thinking a week, but in reality, I clearly needed a month to rest my mind.
It certainly worked. I have so many ideas written in my notebook for blog topics, my novel, and short stories. The only problem I am faced with now is time. I have struggled to make time for my writing (outside of blogging). I want to pick up where I left off in my novel, but by the time I sit down to write, I am exhausted or distracted (usually distracted). I need to find a new space that does not resemble my office. I need to find a space that is free from distractions. I need to find a new space that encourages creativity. My bedroom doesn’t do that for me anymore.
Now, I turn to my followers. Do you have suggestions for a new space to write? Let me explain that I have a low budget (really, I have no budget, but I would pay a few dollars to write somewhere beautiful). I also get distracted easily. I mean it. If I hear a bird chirp, I want to know why he is chirping. If I see a squirrel, I will stare at it until he is out of sight. If I smell cookies… I will follow the scent trail until I can eat them. Alright, I may be exaggerating on that last one. I think you get the point.
Where do you go when you read, write, paint, sing, think, and so on? I’d love to hear your suggestions. Comment me, e-mail me, Facebook me, or even tweet me. I look forward to hearing some of your responses.
Thanks for continuing to follow me. I know consistency is imperative when it comes to blogging. I hope you can understand that sometimes we need a break. It does the mind good.
