Writing Challenge 53

By Brian Abbott

What goes into getting the perfect picture?

I’m told it took me an hour to snap the photo below. I can scarcely believe it took that long. I had wanted to get the perfect picture, one with no tourists marring the scene. I managed it! Well, nearly. You can just see a lone individual exiting the scene at left.

Consider what goes into getting that perfect shot or angle. What might others think of the photographer’s “waste of time.” Is the end result worth it? Or what might the photo itself stir you to write? Take up your pencils, your pens, or your keyboard and follow your instincts and write. What will this month’s image inspire?

Happy Writing!

Each month, The Poisoned Martini presents a photo to spark your creativity.  Because of their visual nature, images vividly speak to writers and spark ideas for writing.  View the photo below, ponder what you see, and then put pen to paper or finger to keyboard.  Write a scene, a short story, a chapter, a novella, or maybe even a novel.

The last writing challenge featured a post card of the historic Old Day House (built in 1754) in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The post card was produced by the now-defunct Artvue Post Card Co. (once located at 225 Fifth Avenue in New York City).
