Last month, what did you witness? High above the ground swung an empty noose. Where was this scene from? The Chateau de Chillon stretches out over the waters of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The island castle served as the home to the Counts of Savoy for several centuries. In the cellars of the chateau I came across this curious sight as I made my way to a famous spot. For many years the chateau held a man prisoner. Lord Byron penned François de Bonivard’s emprisonment famous in his 1816 poem, The Prisoner of Chillon. The photo was taken in August 2014.
