Are you ready for this month’s writing challenge?
To spark your creativity, The Poisoned Martini features monthly images to get you started. Such images, because of their visual nature, vividly speak to writers and spark ideas for writing. The idea is to view the image below and to write a scene, a short story, a chapter, a novella, or maybe even a novel.
Last month’s image featured a church that had been converted into a restaurant. The photo was related to this review of Rhys Bowen’s Evan and Elle, which featured a similarly converted church as a scene of the crime. The Church Restaurant seen in the photo is located–and in operation–in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. The building opened as a restaurant in 1975, and added a second dining venue known as The Belfry in 1983. Either restaurant make for eclectic, gourmet dining in between the plays at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. View the image, taken in 2005, here.
For this month’s challenge, regard this manse on a hill. Consider all the residents that may have lived within its walls and the conversations that may have occurred, or might the structure serve a different purpose?
Happy Writing!
