The life of the Titans’ wide receiver O.J. Murdock has come to a tragic end in what appears to be a suicide. At only 25 years of age, Murdock had already made a name for himself, being a state champion sprinter in track and field and being ranked as the 10th best overall receiver by Rivals.com in 2005.

Murdock signed with the Titans last summer after going undrafted. He unfortunately suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon, rendering him unable to participate in any games for his season with the team. Although unable to participate, many of Murdock’s teammates stated in interviews that Murdock was still a delight to have on the team, always being happy and having a smile on his face.

On the tragic morning on July 30 2012, police found O.J. Murdock shot in the head in the parking lot of his old school, Middleton Highschool, after a 911 caller said they heard a gunshot coming from a parked car in the parking lot of the institution. After being found at 8:30 am, Murdock was taken to a nearby hospital in Tampa where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:43 am. Police are said to be thoroughly investigating the matter although they have released statements stating that is seems to be a suicide.

No one is fully aware as to the motive behind Murdock’s apparent suicide but, officer Irene Thomas stated in a chat with FOXSports.com that “His family is aware of the details and we are working with them to determine the reasons (for the apparent suicide).”

We at Candor News wish to extend our sincerest condolences to the Murdock family.
