A significant majority of Americans (64%) say they are worried about global warming (i.e., global climate change). About 59% says we are already beginning to feel the effects of global warming, and 65% say it is caused by humans (overusing/misusing fossil fuels). That is the highest number of worried people since 2008, and represents an 11 point climb over 2015.
So, if such significant portions of the population are worried about global warming, think the effects of it have already begun, and know it is man-made (which means we can do something about it) -- why hasn't our government taken steps to change policies that contribute to it?
The chart shows the answer to that question. While majorities of Independents, Democrats, and the general public believe that, Republicans don't. And it is Republicans that control both house of our Congress. And those science-denying Republicans have made it clear that they have no intention of changing. They view sustaining the huge corporate profits to be more important than handing a livable planet over to our descendants.
This is just one more reason making the 2016 election very important. We must vote the Republicans out of power before it is too late to do anything about global warming.
