World Trigger 19: It Comes Full Circle

World Trigger 19

It’s time to call it quits with World Trigger.

Ok, ok, it’s not entirely true. I will actually still be reading World Trigger, as I think it can get interesting at some point. But writing about it is a chore for me. It evolved into a potential questioning some of your morals and betrayal within organization manga but managed to instead give us lots of battles with characters I can’t even bother to care for. It mostly just makes writing about this manga kind of depressing. I picked it up because it seemed like it’d be something that could evolve, but I was kidding myself. So will I decide to write about it again? Eh, maybe. For now, this will be the last review of the manga that I will do.

And at the least, next week’s chapter should be somewhat decent since we’ll finally get to know why Yuma did come to this world. No, the real reason, not to meet Soichi Mogami (who’s dead), but the other reason he’s here. Does it have to do with some issues in Border? Does it have to do with a certain item? Who knows, but that makes a person curious.

It’s obvious just how different these branches are, and seeing the Tamakoma Branch, man is it kind of different. For starters they have a kid as a member — and apparently he’s able to propose with ease. He needs to get his priorities in check. And then just Shiori (who needs more glasses friends) and a few other members, who are all A-Rank and above it seems. For such a small group, they’re apparently pretty good. I hope they have distinct personalities, assuming we do ever meet them.

Otherwise, as I read more of World Trigger, I can only hope that there’s actually some sort of malicious threat either brewing within Border or outside of Border via the gate, or maybe there could be a trip to the other side to see what it’s like. Actually that might be a bit too much. There also needs to be some sort of character development. Some part where I can care about these characters because I don’t right now. And finally, these battles need to be a bit more interesting and somewhat varied. I hope one of these things happen or this is just going to be a middling shounen series.
