When I got the opportunity to check out LG's 4K OLED televisions, I was really amazed at the brilliance of the display. Keeping that experience in mind, I can't help but wonder how enthralling it would be to view the world's largest OLED displays that LG has setup in South Korea's award-winning Incheon International Airport. LG worked with Wilmotte & Associés, a French design firm, to develop these gigantic displays.
These huge OLED displays would be used to showcase the awesome visual experience of OLED technology to the travelers. They are composed of 140 55-inch curved OLED panels. Together, these result in a display that is more than 13 meters high and 8 meters wide. LG has installed two such curved displays at the Incheon International Airport to showcase the capabilities of OLED by displaying content like fireworks against a night sky.
Being so huge in size, one might expect these displays to be heavy too. However, as every pixel in OLED display emits its own light, the LED backlighting is not needed. This allows the displays to remain comparatively light in weight and easier to hang from the ceiling.
I'm sure the travelers at Incheon International Airport would be enjoying the visual feast provided by these displays. And LG must be very happy and proud about these displays. But to tell you the truth, I felt rather sad when I saw their images. Why? Because they aren't in India! How wonderful it would be if we could experience these too. Just imagine having such a brilliant display installed at a place like India Gate, for example, displaying the natural, historical, structural splendor of India. Wouldn't it be great?
Anybody at LG listening?
