By Attireclub @attireclub

When temperatures rise and the sun is out in full force, there's no doubt that summer has arrived. That being said, you might feel more motivated to work out in a fully air-conditioned gym if it means getting to escape the heat for a short period. To make sure you're fully prepared for the hotter months, you might want to update your gym bag with some essentials. Here are some items you'll definitely need to bring with you to the gym this summer:

High-performance socks

If the types of exercises that you do typically require you to wear sports shoes, your socks can make a huge difference when it comes to your performance and comfort. There are a lot of different athletic and men's compression socks that are designed to support intense and prolonged physical activity while helping to regulate your temperature at the same time. A nice pair of performance socks can keep your feet dry, enhance blood circulation to keep you energized, and prevent your body from overheating while you're working out.

Deodorant

As a common courtesy to those around you, it's probably a good idea to have some deodorant in your gym bag. This is especially important if you go to the gym first thing in the morning. In the summer heat, you'll be sweating a lot more during your workouts, which means you might not smell so great afterward.

So for the sake of the other people in the gym, it might be a good idea to have a stick or can of deodorant at the ready. You can put it on before you start your workout or apply it once you begin to get sweaty.

Headphones

Music is a great way to keep yourself motivated and focused while you work out. But since you'll be working up a serious sweat this summer, invest in a good pair of sweatproof wireless headphones. Though there are many variations of this product out on the market, you'll want to go for an in-ear model for maximum comfort and dryness. That way, you can continue listening to music without feeling sweat trickling into your ear canal as you're exercising.

Mask and face visor

Even with restrictions easing up due to the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, it's better to be safe than sorry. After all, protocols and safety regulations can differ from gym to gym. Just to be sure, make it a point to bring a mask and a face visor in your bag in case you need to wear them while you're out. After all, you will still be using a public space for your workout. As such, it is for everyone's sake that you comply with any health-related rules that your gym may impose.

Heart rate monitor

During the summer, you might end up putting your body under more physical strain because of the heat. To find out if your usual workout is too intense for summer, you may want to consider investing in a heart rate monitor.

The kind of heart rate monitor that you should buy will depend on your own health-related needs. You can get a model that you can strap to your chest if you need more accurate readings. If you prefer something more portable, you can buy one that you can wear on your wrist. Whichever type you choose, this device will keep you exercising smarter and better during the summer.

Large reusable water bottle

It's important to stay hydrated during your workout sessions, especially during the summer. To ensure that you always have enough water on hand, swap out your small water bottle for a larger one. Most gyms have a water fountain or refill station, so take advantage of them in case you run low on water. In addition to water, consider bringing another bottle filled with a sports drink of your choice. Drinking this can help your body replenish essential electrolytes and minerals throughout the day.

Extra towel

If you usually bring only a single towel with you when you go to the gym, it'll likely be soaked with sweat by the time you're done with your workout session. Hence, it's more practical to bring another towel that's small and extremely absorbent. This will allow you to dry yourself off more comfortably after a post-workout shower.

Bath essentials

Some people mistakenly think that it's fine to put off a post-workout shower for later in the day. The problem is that any excessive sweat and moisture that's left on your body can cause skin problems such as rashes. For the sake of hygiene, bring some shampoo, soap, and other bath products in your gym bag. That way, you don't have to wait until you get home to take a nice, thorough shower after your workout. Of course, you also need to bring a change of clothes so that you can wear something clean and dry afterward.

This summer, don't forget to bring these workout essentials with you. With these in your bag, you can keep yourself comfortable, safe, and dry, all while working on becoming your healthiest self.
