Story: Wonderland starts when we meet Bai Li (Wei) who wanted a better life for her daughter. Meanwhile, Jeong In (Suzy) struggles to keep her relationship with her astronaut partner Tae-ju (Bo-gum) together. However, the reality is the life they have created with A.I. which offers them happiness.
When lives change, the A.I. realities blur with what people once thought they had. It leads to a confusing series of events, which create moments people can’t deal with and struggle to understand.
Verdict on Wonderland
Wonderland is a sci-fi drama following different people who make a connection to their lost loved ones through A.I. technology. However, when things change, they must figure out how to move on with the changes as the A.I. starts bringing its own ideas to the table.
This movie takes the idea of communicating with lost loved ones and places it into the hands of A.I. It has a mixture of good and bad results, offering moral dilemmas about how to react. This includes, remembering people a certain way, only wanting to remember the positives and ignore they have even gone. It dives into some series subjects. However, it doesn’t seem to get as deep into the reality as possible, almost only grazing the surface of what could have been.
Where to Watch
Wonderland is available on Netflix now.
Final Thoughts – Wonderland tackles a sensitive subject without going deep enough.
