A Kenyan woman with hirsutism, a disorder that causes excessive facial hair development in cisgender females, bravely told her story, showing the stigma and persecution she suffered growing up.

Wanggy Ivvah91, speaking at a TikTok live session on April 16, said that she began sprouting facial hair at the age of 13 due to hirsutism. She described growing up with societal shame and being called an outsider.

“People told me I was cursed, that my mother was a witch who was punished for my facial hair growth.” “They said I’d never conceive, and any man I slept with or had a child with would die,” Wanggy explained.

Despite the challenges, Wanggy, now happily married with children, is determined to challenge the stigma surrounding hirsutism and dispel myths about the condition. She emphasized that women with hirsutism are just as capable of giving birth as any other woman.

Wanggy admitted to cutting her facial hair to avoid rejection by men, but she thanked her understanding spouse for embracing her condition. She said that many of her former lovers were ignorant of her hirsutism until she freely discussed it.

When asked about her husband’s reaction to finding her illness, Wanggy replied, “He did not reject me, but he was shocked to see the hairs.”

Wanggy encouraged other ladies with similar problems to appreciate themselves and embrace their uniqueness. She underlined that they are normal and should not be self-hating……….See More
