Woman Involved in Oman Trafficking Racket Granted Bail

A woman involved in the trafficking of women from Sri Lanka to Oman on tourist visas and selling them as prostitutes was arrested yesterday (21) by the Criminal Investigation Department’s Trafficking and Maritime Crime Division.

The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate  Keminda Perera yesterday. She was released on two sureties of Rs.300,000 each. She is believed to be one of the main persons involved in this racket.

The Criminal Investigation Department has identified her as a person involved in this racket for a long time. She is said to have visited Oman from time to time on a tourist visa and she had last visited Oman on August 6.
