Officers from the Embilipitiya Special Crime Investigation Division has arrested a female suspect who while posing as a rich philanthropist and defrauding one million rupees from the Udawalawa Buddhist Centre.
This female suspect according to police had used to call temples in various parts of the country identifying herself as a philanthropist who helps temples financially.
While informing that she will transfer money online she had obtained details related to the bank accounts and had had used those details to fraudulently obtain money. The 22 year old woman is a resident of Kandy.
The police are investigating.
