Wolf Parade have shared the Chad VanGaalen-directed video for ‘Julia Take Your Man Home’ – a song that appears on the band’s eagerly awaited fifth album ‘Thin Mind’ (Sub Pop/Royal Mountain Records).
The song takes you back to indie discos of the mid-00s from its very first Franz Ferdinand-meets-The Rapture beats before evolving into something that would sit happily alongside Mini Mansions in your record collection – complete with the most alluring bass line.
The baritone-esque vocals come with plenty of wry humor from the start (‘Julia take your man home, he’s just sitting at the bar, carving shapes that look like dicks into the room’) before things move into sadder territory as the band reveal this man needs Julia’s help in ways that are ‘unfair towards you’ e.g. ‘Julia take your man home, he keeps talking about New Jersey and cocaine’. All the while, the tempo is being built up – culminating in a burst of potent power pop guitar riffs.
