The Minuwangoda Magistrate T.Thenabadu recently ordered prison authorities to refer two men arrested for having heroin to the Pallansena rehabilitation center for one year.
This was made following a request by their wives to rehabilitate their heroin addicted husbands taken into custody for possession of the banned drug.
The men aged 36 and 34, residing in Paragoda and Walpita, were thus admitted to the rehabilitation center in Pallansena.
The two suspects were arrested by the Kotadeniyawa Police for having 100 mg and 85 mg of heroin respectively and brought before the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court.
At the time the case was called, the two wives of the two suspects through a sworn petition with the help of lawyers had made the above request. Police Sergeants Chandrasekera (34621)and Herath (19918) from the Kotadeniyawa police handled the complaints.
