Hello all,
Today I would like to share with you the beauty of winter as 2013 comes to a close…
The trees of winter.
I used to dread winter and live for the summer. But now as I grow older, I have come to see the beauty of the winter months. I used to find waking up with the darkness of night lingering still outside quite depressing and I missed waking up with the warm golden summer sun. But now I find a certain joy in waking up in the cold darkness, quietly doing my sacred morning rituals while the dark turns to light. There is beauty in that.
I used to dislike cold walks home in the evening at the end of the day. I knew it would be cold, rainy, dark and long. But now I love being wrapped up in my beautiful new winter coat, with the bright lights of traffic, stars and festivity guiding me home. And I like to think about my day and how it was. And the joy in coming home to a warm home, putting on my extra fluffy socks, filling up my hot water bottle (one of the best decisions I made in 2013 – to get a hot water bottle), and drinking a hot drink.
The joy of stepping into a warm home after playing in the snow. And the joy in becoming warm. Becoming okay.
Knowing that though I may not be there yet, I am becoming.

2013 has been a difficult year for me, but it has taught me to find sweetness in struggles. To face the coldness of winter with warmth in my heart.
