Each season at Attire Club, we create a small style portfolio to reflect the season. It usually focuses on small accessories, such as bracelets, bow ties, ties or pocket squares, but it has also been about full shirt and pants outfits.
The process of creating something and photographing it is meant to be a reflection of the state of the global culture through colors, materials and prints.
In fashion, the system is based on creating items way in advance. It takes many months for a piece of clothing to go from concept to the web and to the shops. On AC, while we respect the system, we decided to go completely the other way around this time and present our ideas only after the season is done in our Winter Revisions Autumn-Winter 2016-17 Style Portfolio. Weird, but if you think about it, valid. In the end, what we wanted to do was to explore the multifaceted concept of anti-fashion and see whether it does really have some value to it.
We chose colors and prints that reflect a shaky and dangerous aesthetic: they are dynamic and serious, but still explore a fun side.
They’re neither this, nor that; they’re both bold and safe. It’s pretty much the way the world is now: we are stepping on new grounds and working on figuring out what still works and what does not.
While the items themselves have turned out well, we think, it has to be said that it was pretty weird to work the other way around: inspiring something for now by something that was, rather than creating something for the near future by what is now and how things can evolve.
It was a cool experiment with fashion, colors and the way we think.
Winter Revisions, as our autumn-winter 2016-17 is called (it’s even weird to write that in early spring 2017) is a take on ‘classic’ concepts: it reinforces, but it challenges them at the same time.
