Happy Friday! Here in the U.S. it’s Memorial Day weekend, so we’ll be striking up the BBQs. Since I am usually the appointed resident “wine connoisseur” amongst my friends, I thought I’d pull together a quick list of a few supermarket wines I’ve been enjoying lately, as a handy reference guide for your own BBQs this weekend or all summer long…
SILVER RIDGE CHARDONNAY
I admit, I’ve been spoiled with Chateau Montelena Chardonnay for most of my adult life (thank you DAD!), so finding an affordable, well-balanced Chardonnay is always a challenge for me. But I picked this up in Hawaii at Foodland for a family dinner, and it even got the approval from Pops!
LA VIEILLE FERME ROSÉ (or any Rosé)
I’m a big fan of the Rosé during summer — it’s easy to pair with white or red meats, appetizers, whatever. Perfect for hot summer days.
FOLIE À DEUX MENAGE À TROIS RED BLEND
A great everyday wine actually. I see it often on wine lists and it’s always in the grocery store. An easy, affordable buy.
CHATEAU STE. MICHELLE MERLOT
OK, so yes, I was a snob when a friend offered this me. I was pleasantly surprised! It’s light but earthy, and I could see it pairing well with pork, especially with a spicy rich sauce.
CLOS DU BOIS CABERNET SAUVIGNON
I buy this one a lot; it’s reliable. I’m not a fan of the California style fruit-forward Cab (I prefer the earthy European style), so this one really does it for me.
BOGLE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
You’ll find this pick on wine lists too, and I think I’ve seen it in Target as well. A little fruittier but bold enough to pair nicely with rich cheeses, sauces, and meats.

Have any fun plans this weekend?
Enjoy!
