Wimbledon Begins!

And so England went out of Euro 2012 soccer tournament, losing to Italy on penalties. Much ink has been spilled in the aftermath, but we think The Sun summed it up best with their front page today:

The annual Wimbledon tennis championships take place right here in London every year. In this exceptionally busy London summer of sport (there's a little competition taking place over in East London in a few weeks) we'll be digging in the archives for nuggets from the world's most famous and historic tennis competition.
Wimbledon by Numbers…  In 1887, entry for the first Wimbledon Championship numbered just 22 players (all men). The winner was the Old Harrovian Spencer W Gore.  In 2012, the competitors number 128 in both the singles tournaments for both sexes
