Will Run for Chocolate: The Hot Chocolate 15/5K

By Urbanmatter Chicago @UMatterChicago

Through thick and thin, chocolate has always been there for us. It’s there when we’re happy. It’s there when we’re sad. Heck, it’s even there when we’re eating because we’re in between House of Cards episodes and the remote is too far away.

There’s only one downside, chocolate isn’t particularly good for you.

Well, wouldn’t you feel better working for your chocolate? Nothing screams rewarding some intense physical activity like downing a goodie bag of chocolate, right?

That’s where the Hot Chocolate 15/5K comes in. There’s hot chocolate, dark chocolate, and even a semi-eaten chocolate finisher medal to reward your intense exertion.

Plus, the big ol’ post-race party in Grant Park looks way too fun. Check it out:

Okay, so it’s late notice, and if you haven’t been training, that 15K looks like it might be out of the question at this point. Well, don’t worry about it. Take a stab at the 5K, or even take on the two-mile walk. There’s something for everyone (and you’re still going to get chocolate and a pretty rockin’ shirt regardless).

Hate to break it to you, but it’s really not all about you either. The official charity of the race is the Ronald McDonald House Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Raise a certain amount of money, and you can even run for free. The run is also actively seeking volunteers, so consider taking part.

Looking to sign up? Check out The Hot Chocolate 15/5K’s Registration Page.

The Hot Chocolate 15/5K takes place in the Loop & Grant Park on November 8th, 2015.
