Wilder Style: My Uniform as a Child (or) Commonwealth Proper, Beautiful Clothes for Men

Wilder Style: My Uniform as a Child (or) Commonwealth Proper, Beautiful Clothes for Men  There are few things I like more than soft, well designed T-shirts. This probably stems from the uniform of athletic shorts and a graphic T that I wore to school every day from 1st to 5th grade. Even in winter I'd occasionally refuse to wear pants and throw on my favorite green nylon shorts, the bottom half of my travel soccer team's uniform (I still today call athletic shorts "soccer shorts"). I'd roll them to get them so they'd be the exact right length and the bottoms would flare out the slightest bit. The T shirts I wore varied a little more; I had one with a soccer ball on it that said "Girls Dominate On The Field" (which is something one could only ever wear as a child). My favorite tee, however, was a plain white shirt with an illustration by Edward Gorey on it (drawing and great menswear after the jump).

Pretty good, no? One of my best friends (or maybe two of them?) also had the shirt, and we'd call each other up before school on the days that we wanted to wear it (matching was totally in). I wore it far too often and loved it an inordinate amount for its being an inanimate object, to the point where I would feel bad for it if I didn't wear it at least three times a week.
Now that you know I was a strange little tomboy as a child, I'll tell you the reason for this trip down memory lane: Commonwealth Proper. I came across their company website and immediately fell in love with their offerings of custom made oxford shirts and suits. But it was their more casual menswear that really got me; I'm considering ordering one of the graphic tees like the CMMP Flag T-shirt above in which to relive my glory (Gorey) days.
Here are a few more of their awesome casual clothes. If anyone wants to get me the floral pocket square, I'll blow you kisses while waving it back and forth out the window of a train.

The CMMP Tribe T Shirt, following the trend of Native American inspired clothing this season, might offend Native Americans if this article in the New York Times from March is any indication. While I respect their point of view, I do think it's a pretty cool graphic.

All this Hand Crafted 1950 T is missing is a pack of cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve.

Isn't the pattern on this floral Pocket Square lovely? If I could have a crush on a retailer (which I'm pretty sure I can) it would be Commonwealth Proper.
