Highlight was that flashpaper kind of app that burns super bright and then disappears in a puff of smoke. Launched at the end of 2011, Highlight was in the vanguard of “near me” apps and also caught the most flack as being the creepiest app idea on the planet. At the time, there were a lot of apps willing to help you find friends nearby. However, none were as polished as Highlight. As for the creep factor… well, that was real.

The show, taped five days a week for five and a half years, had all the production values of a hostage video. It was Mr. Vaynerchuk sitting at a table in his office, demystifying chardonnays, rieslings and other wines by describing them in terms that any mook could understand. He made reference to Big League Chew, a brand of bubble gum, in a riff about a zinfandel. One pinot noir, he said, was “hot doggy in the mid-palate. And I’m not talking about the Hebrew National. I’m talking about the 99-center.”

I wonder what this means for a sparsely populated and spread out country like Australia. Some of our more remote communities won’t be getting the upgrade to the broadband internet infrastructure that the rest of the country is getting. So if you’re sick of being bombarded by digital marketing, I suppose you’ll just have to move out to a country town somewhere!

Thanks for this info! My 14 year old step-daughter just got a new iPhone, so I was setting up the restricted websites. I also wanted to put out there that a website called wattpad.com is a bad place for kids to go, along with creepypasta.com. In the past we’ve found my daughter reading extremely hard core pornographic “fanfiction” stories. S&M stuff, I mean really hard core nastiness. And if you see anything with “X Reader”, it’s not a great sign. Also, I wanted to mention that Undertale could lead to some nasty stuff. It seems to be a fave story/game among the middle schoolers in our community. If anyone else knows of any random off the beaten path sites, please post them here!

Hi there! Thanks so much for the comment! I’m hopeful that these tips should be pretty relevant for your radio program. A good first step might be trying to find where your audience resides – are they into Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, etc.? One way that I’ve heard works well is to place some of these social network icons on your website and see how the networks grow – if that might for you at all!

The quintessential “dumb” app, Yo briefly captured the collective attention of the Internet when an app that only allowed you to say “yo” topped the App Store charts — even if it was for just a few days. The app quickly racked up more than a million users and inspired dozens of copycats (Yo Hodor, anyone?) while helping kick off a new trend of ridiculous and ridiculous-sounding apps.

SEO can almost be viewed as a set of best practices for good digital marketing. It enforces the need for a well-constructed and easy-to-use website, valuable and engaging content, and the credibility for other websites and individuals to recommend you by linking to your site or mentioning it in social media posts.

Your definition of digital marketing as it takes into cognisance the “push and pull” while providing real time feedback on campaign effectiveness is quite true. It is quite important that as marketeers, we constantly carry out an evaluation of all activities with respect to real time impact.

Twitter has seen its fair share of turmoil recently — Jack Dorsey, one of the founders, is back as CEO, and the company recently laid off 8% of its employees— but it’s still the first place many people turn to to see what’s going on.

A plan needs to have goals, aims and objectives which are all derived from inspecting the purpose of the issue at stake. So first define the purpose of having a social media presence then get on with your plan and implement a social media presence that will fulfill your purpose.

Digital marketing, the promotion of products or brands via one or more forms of electronic media, differs from traditional marketing in that it uses channels and methods that enable an organization to analyze marketing campaigns and understand what is working and what isn’t – typically in real time.
