Another great road trip for those with an RV, is the Great Northern Route US 2. The main reason why you’ll want an RV is because it’s a lot longer than Border to Border so you’ll want the comfort and ability to take some time for a nap whenever you like.
You’ll travel through 2571 miles, and will go in and out of Canada on the way. You’ll also get to drive along the famous Theodore Roosevelt International Highway and will get to see farm lands, mountain ranges, national parks and great lakes. You’ll also get to see Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Niagara Falls, towns like Main and Vermont and cities like Washington and New York (you can also detour to Chicago and Detroit).
Another fun driving route is the Gold Rush Route 49, and this is a great option for history buffs. You’ll be able to follow all of the roads that the fortune hunters took way back in the 1800s. The route number also comes from the immigrants who were looking for all the gold, since they were called “49ers.”
You’ll get to see the Empire Mine State Historic Park, Angels Camp Museum and the Kennedy Mines along the way.
If you only have a small amount of time, the Going to the Sun road is just a quick 50 miles of driving, however it also includes one of the most dangerous roads- Logan pass which is 6,646 feet high.
