Why Use a Hair Toner?

Hair Toner?

If you have color-treated hair, using a toner is essential to keep your beautiful locks looking vibrant and healthy. Toners, also known as hair toners, are specially designed to neutralize or enhance colors in your hair. Whether you want to tone your hair after bleaching or just to get rid of brassy tones, a toner will give you the results you desire. If you visit a salon, your stylist may recommend a toner for you after color treatment to achieve the perfect shade. When selecting a toner, it’s important to consider your hair type and the desired results. You can use a toner with a toning shampoo to maintain a perfect color balance in your hair. Always make sure to wash your hair thoroughly before applying a toner for maximum effectiveness. Incorporating a toner into your hair care routine is essential for maintaining beautiful colored hair. Hair Toner?

1. Neutralizing

The best hair color is clean and clear and free of unwanted tones. For example, a beautiful, cool blonde hair color won’t exhibit traces of yellow and a lovely mocha brunette hair color would be ruined by unwanted orange or brassiness. Toners neutralize any unwanted tones. A violet-purple toner may be applied to blonde hair to cancel out unwanted yellow, or a blue toner used to neutralize brass.

2. Double Process Hair Colour

Trendy hair colors like rose gold or pastel pink are usually a two-step process. First, lighten your hair and create a clean “canvas,” then use a toner to deposit the desired final shade (or shades).

3. Pre-toning

Pre-toning creates a neutral base, eliminating unwanted warm or ash tones that might compromise the finished hair color. A pre-tone is applied before your color service and will help to keep your hair color consistent as it fades.

4. Color Refreshing

If your existing hair color has started to fade, a toner is a healthier way to bring it back to life than reapplying permanent color. Many hair stylists like to apply permanent hair color to the new growth and use a toner on the rest of your hair to balance the existing shade and add shine.

5. Color Correction

Toners can be used to quickly and gently fix color problems, like tones that go off or spots that might pop up as a result of the inaccurate application.

6. Grey Blending

If you aren’t completely grey, toning is a great way to blend your greys with the pigmented hair color that you still have. Toners are sheerer than permanent hair color, so you’ll get a reflective, dimensional gray coverage result instead of a solid hair color look.

7. Shine Enhancement

Sometimes your hair color simply needs a shine boost. Toners to the rescue!
