Why The Super Bowl Was Sentimental For Taraji P Henson

Hidden Figures actress, Taraji P Henson, who was in Houston for the BIG game along with other celebs, revealed to USA Today that the Super Bowl was sentimental to her, because she lost her dad, and football was a big part of his life.

“It’s a big deal for me because I lost my dad, and football was such a big part of us on Sundays,” she said. “…I love being this close to it and wish that he was alive to actually go to a Super Bowl because I don’t think he’s ever been to a Super Bowl when he was alive.”

Last year, Henson, during an interview with ET described how her  father battled with demons, just like we all do, and how at 4 years old he tried to kidnap her.

My father, he was homeless,” Henson said. “He served in the military. He was a police officer. He battled with his demons just like all humans do, but my father didn’t hide it from me.”

When she was just 4 years old, Henson says, her father tried to kidnap her. The SAG Award Winning actress  was caught in the middle of her parents’ abusive marriage and divorce, but says she is not bitter. According to Henson, her father was just wanting to spend time with her. She even claims part of her success has been inspired by him.
