Over time, technology continues to make considerable progress. For example, our cell phones are changing dizzyingly. In the same context, applications such as WhatsApp or Messenger are also improving year after year. So much so that we are so carried away by the wave that we almost forget certain rules.
Despite themselves, the users of these technological tools have introduced certain sometimes unhealthy habits into their daily lives. In particular, did you know that it is not recommended to send messages on social networks after 9 p.m.? Find out why!

Why is it not good to send messages after 9 p.m.?
These days, it’s very rare to find someone without a cell phone in hand. Almost all of us have become addicted to Smartphones, social networks and sending messages to our loved ones. And, of course, most users are allergic to any form of restriction: the use of mobile is precisely supposed to offer unlimited freedom. Except that it is important to ask. We bet that the title of our article intrigues you greatly. You are probably wondering why it would not be a good thing to send messages on Messenger or WhatsApp after 9 p.m.? The answer is very simple and quite legitimate. It refers above all to the rules of propriety.
Talking about etiquette in this area seems absurd to you? Yet, even if they are increasingly lost, “good manners” and “politeness” are part of social norms. They cannot be overlooked or neglected. And this, even if we are dealing here with the world of technology. However, you may not know it, but, because of your Smartphone, you often break certain rules. Etiquette and manners expert Liz Wyse shared her thoughts on the subject with The Mirror newspaper. The specialist explains that many people make mistakes without even realizing it. “It is generally accepted that it is inconsiderate to send messages or make phone calls late at night. Although there is no absolute limit, it should be avoided after 9 p.m., ”she explains. Indeed, you would still not dare to contact one of your colleagues or your boss late at night. That would be inappropriate and rude. However, some night owls do not mind sending messages to their friends or sharing photos on WhatsApp after a “decent” hour.
However, according to the expert, people begin to relax in the early evening. This is when they disconnect from their long day at work and quietly relax on the sofa or bed. It is therefore perfectly impolite to disturb them at this time, unless of course there is an emergency or a very important message to convey. If so, a word of apology would be in order.

Use a little common sense to preserve the label!
In general, even when we are very tired or busy, it is difficult to resist the temptation to take our mobile to answer the messages received. However, according to the specialist, talking on your Smartphone late at night is a harmful habit for yourself and for others. “We are all very concerned about good sleep hygiene these days. It’s generally a bad idea to watch screens late at night (…). So why impose your bad habits on others? Even by meticulously putting our mobile phone in silent mode, we still risk being disturbed by the vibrations or the lighting of the screen on the bedside table,” adds Liz Wyse.
This is why, even though the WhatsApp and Messenger applications are very popular and practical in many ways, it would be better to limit their use. It should not be abused at any time of the day or night. It is above all a question of good manners and politeness. Disturbing loved ones at mealtimes or before sleeping is inappropriate and may even be considered disrespectful.
In other words, the recommendation would be to limit yourself to sending messages, photos or videos at a decent time. Ideally, never exceed 9 p.m. After all, you yourself need to disconnect and rest. With a little common sense, you can guess that your contacts also want peace and relaxation. It is up to you to respect these limits. If you don’t have something urgent to deliver, you can postpone until the next day.
