Why Mummy Swears by @whymummydrinks

By Pamelascott

It's every parent's nightmare - the start of the school holidays - and instead of sitting in the sun, reading a book over a cold, crisp glass of Pinot Grigio, Mummy has two bored moppets to attend to. After frantically booking sports camps, child minder slots, not to mention time off work, Mummy is exhausted. But this is only the beginning...

Why Mummy Swears by @whymummydrinks

After being dragged tojoin the school's PTA in the new term by an annoyingly kind-spirited neighbour,Mummy is stuck with organising the Christmas Fayre and pleasing all the overlydisapproving parents. In combination with getting to know her father's surprisenew glamorous (and much younger) wife, and being forced to spend more time withher narcissistic mother, life isn't cutting her much of a break. What morecould possibly happen?

WhyMummy Drinks was hilarious and I couldn't wait to read this.I'm so glad I did. I'm not a parent but I found so many things in this bookmade me laugh out loud. This book is great fun from start to finish. I wasenchanted by it. I loved the part where the family have lunch in aself-catering café which is a hilarious nightmare because each person has theirown menu quirk. This was a pleasure to read. I felt like I was reading a memoirat times because it all felt so real. I had the same reading experience with WhyMummy Swears. Ellen is such a real character I felt like I really knew her.The book is structured into months like a diary which made it easy to read. Iloved how Ellen's kids, Peter and Jane constantly open their mouth and makeembarrassing observations. Hilarious. Why Mummy Swears is veryentertaining.
