Reflections of a Bookaholic
I am returning with my new feature... Why I love which takes place on Wednesdays. Today's proclamation of love concerns our Favorite Stand-Alone Novel
Why I Love...

Ooopseey!  Sorry for the late WILW post!  I forgot that I hadn't prescheduled one.  Well let's get on with it shall we?  Now I love a good series like the next reader.  It can be so hard to let go of your characters and it is lovely not to have a romance rushed and adventures over.  BUT a good stand alone novel is worth so much to me!  Authors who can write a great stand-alone novel really stands out to me.  It is not an easy task.  The story has to hook the reader like any other but it also has to tell the story and wrap everything up in a satisfying way.  No cliffhangers for the stand-alone novel.  Pacing has to be perfect.  Connections to characters must be fast.  The story can't be underdeveloped or incomplete but there is no room for too many details.  Oh it just seems oh so difficult to me.

My favorites?  Oh I have a couple...

*I count Gone With the Wind as a stand-alone since the sequel isn't written by the same author*
There are sooo many series out right now, so it can be hard to even remember which books are stand-alone novels.
P.S.  We are going without the linky again this week BUT it will be back next week.
P.P.S. I'm a little off kilter as I've had a death in the family recently and things are kind of crazy.  Please bear with me as I try to return to my schedule, comments, and visits.  I'm quite a bit...
