Why I Love...The Hunger Games!!
Oh this was so easy. Well first, if you haven't noticed, it's kind of dystopian week. Since I already talked about To Kill a Mockingbird, it was pretty easy to go with The Hunger Games this week. Heads up... the dystopian themed giveaway goes up on Friday :)
I imagine that The Hunger Games is constantly challenged because of the violence and devastating darkness. I might be a bit scarred by it. BUT if I would not have read this trilogy, I would have missed out on storytelling at its finest. It describes a human tragedy that is very real and not impossible considering all the anger, hatred, and politics that goes on today. I love this book and series because I connected with the characters in a very real way. The constant emotional upheavals are exciting and exhausting at the same time. No one should be able to curtail anyone's speech. I also think that challenging books because "you" don't like them or "you" think they are too violent is selfish. Everyone and every parent deserves to make this decision for them self. It's funny because there seems to be a trend where people don't like being told what to do but they want to tell others what to do. Okay...getting off topic. I LOVE the Hunger Games. The writing is awesome, the story is awesome, and it will stay with me for a long time. I really do feel sorry for people who are missing out on this story. If you haven't read it, go get it NOW! And when you do, say hi to Peeta for me :)
