Why Bonnie – ‘Nowhere, LA’

Keeled Scales signings Why Bonnie have shared ‘Nowhere, LA’ ahead of the release of their debut album ’90 in November’ on 19August. The song – with the LA in the title referring to Louisiana – finds Blair Howerton comparing a broken-down car to the stalling of a relationship: ‘This song is about looking at a relationship in the rear view mirror. Once you’re further away from a place, you can see it all more clearly and with a bit more understanding’. This taking a step away to evaluate feelings and actions is complemented by the alt-folk, almost stop-start sound that brings to mind acts as diverse as Big Thief and Bully. There’s a melancholy air to the vocals as Blair reminisces on how: ‘It wasn’t my fault, but it wasn’t yours either’.
