By Pamelascott

Tom got a note from his girlfriend. It says she hasn't left him, but she's gone.

But where the hell is she? When is she coming back? And what is Tom supposed to do in the meantime?

With each new clue to Hayley's whereabouts, Tom is forced to question whether he truly knows his girlfriend at all. Because who is Hayley really, anyway? Who is this other strange girl following him?

And who, for that matter, is Tom Ditto?

[The evening of June 12th was unusual for many reasons in the end, of course, but it was unusual mostly because the evening of June 12th was the evening my girlfriend did not leave me]

This is one of the funniest yet emotionally draining books I've ever read. I don't often read general contemporary fiction with a male protagonist so this was a nice change. This is a hard book to define. It's a bit of a mystery and a love story but not always. It made me laugh a lot and feel sad and want to hug/slap Tom and tear Hayley's tear out and hug/slap Pia. Tom is the kind of guy it's easy to root for. He's nice and tends to let people walk over the top of him. I wanted to throttle him when he lets Hayley back in his life when she decides to come home and just goes about in a daze like nothing's happened. I loved the way the story ends. I totally loved this book.
