Who is SheshNag?

Today we will tell you about Sheshnag. Along with telling about Sheshnag, we will tell you about the mythological story related to the birth of Sheshnag on earth. This story related to Sheshnag is related to the early period of the earth. The origin of the serpents was Kadru and Vinata, the daughters of Daksha Prajapati and both were married to Rishi Kashyap.Once Kashyap Muni was pleased and asked both his wives to ask for a boon. Kadru asked for the boon of becoming the mother of a thousand mighty snakes and Vinata asked for the boon of becoming the mother of only two sons. However, Vinata told sage Kashyapa that both his sons should be more powerful, mighty and handsome than the sons of Kadru. Kadru laid 1000 eggs and Vinata laid only two eggs. In due course of time 1000 snakes were born from Kadru’s eggs. Many serpents, especially Vasuki, Shesha, Padma, Kambal, Kar Kotak, Nageshwar, Dhritarashtra, Shankh Pal, Kalakhya, Takshak, Pingal, Maha Nag, etc., get a lot of description in the Puranas. Sheshnag was the most mighty among the sons of Kadru. One of their names is also Anant. When Sheshnag saw that his mother and brothers had cheated Vinata together, he left his mother and brothers and started doing penance on the Gandhamadan mountain. Pleased with his penance, Brahma ji granted him a boon that your intellect would never be deviated from religion. Brahma also told Sheshnag that the earth keeps on shaking continuously. Therefore, you should wear it on your hood in such a way that it becomes stable.By the grace of Lord Brahma, Sheshnag took the entire earth on his hood. Let us tell you that Lord Vishnu sits on the seat of Sheshnag in Kshirsagar. According to Hindu religious texts, both Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Shri Rama and Balarama, the elder brother of Shri Krishna, were both incarnations of Sheshnag.
