The Purist – League of Legends
When people think of Esports and are asked to name one, they more often than not will picture and begin talking about League of Legends. Arguably the first game to really understand and harness the popularity of competitive gaming, it is amongst the most influential games ever released and continues to boast one of the most widespread fanbases in the industry.
It’s World Championship is perhaps the most acclaimed tournament in Esports right now, with the most recent edition breaking past the viewership record for real-world events such as Wimbledon or the US Open and showing no signs of slowing down over the coming months and years.
In comparison to Dota, League of Legends is seen as a far easier MOBA game to pick up and play and, unlike its Valve counterpart, has an active player base that isn’t on a dramatic decline.
