Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. I was always more about the treats than the tricks. Why should getting dressed up in a fun costume be reserved for little kids! Kids of all ages have a plethora of options all around Dallas to enjoy this spooktacular holiday. Here are a just a few of my favorite picks:

The Foodie Experience Fall-O-Ween Fest will take place on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 at the historic Longhorn Ballroom (ages 21 and up welcome). Come as you are or in your favorite Halloween costume and enjoy an evening of all-inclusive food and beverages, live entertainment, a silent auction with charity partner North Texas Food Bank. The event will be hosted at Dallas’ second oldest and most famous live music venue and cultural landmark, the Longhorn Ballroom. Friday and Saturday nights’ feasts will feature tastings from more than 50 chefs, restaurants and culinary artisans, including top restaurants Tillman’s Roadhouse, Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, Knife, Meso Maya and many more. There will be a variety of tasty vegan and vegetarian offerings as well as tempting desserts to satisfy the most discriminating sweet tooth. Don't miss dozens of sensational wines, craft beers and a variety of spirits and exquisite mixed-cocktails as part of the all-inclusive night. Dance the night away on Friday evening with “the greatest disco band in the world,” Le Freak. Costume wearers can show off their best costume at the evening’s costume contest, with three winners each night winning cash and other great prizes.

Screams® has transformed itself for its 22nd season to provide the most terrifying haunted house experience ever. The frights have been greatly intensified in each of the 5 haunted houses and practically everywhere else you turn throughout the 15 acre Halloween Theme Park. There is a totally new level of terror for 2017! As part of this transformation, Screams® is recommending that you NOT bring children. Screams® is designed to entertain adults and teenagers 16+. Screams® Halloween Theme Park, presented by MetroPCS, is 5 Haunted Houses and a Whole Lot More that runs every Friday and Saturday night through October 28, 2017. Screams® single admission price is $30 at the gate and includes all 5 haunted houses, live entertainment and Scary-Oke. Plus visitors may go through the haunted houses as many times as they like (as the crowds will allow). To avoid the longer waits, they can purchase a Fast Pass for $15 in advance or during their visit. Additionally Screams® offers a whole lot more such as live entertainment, Scary-Oke, Tarot Card & Palm Readers, games of skill, and scores of professional actors roaming throughout the event. There is also food and drink at the food court and the full service restaurant along with adult beverages at the pubs for those 21 and older. Screams® shops will feature wares like jewelry, glo products, feather extensions, Henna Tattoos and Wax Hands. There is also a mask and souvenir shop and much more including the MetroPCS photo booth and charging station. Admission is $30 at the gate or advance discount tickets can be purchased on-line at www.ScreamsPark.com.  Visitors can also get a ‘$10 off 2 Tickets’ coupon at North Texas MetroPCS stores, $2 off discount coupons at Waxahachie Nissan or two free tickets with a test drive at Waxahachie Nissan while supplies last.

Calling all mummies and daddies! Come to Reunion Tower to make your Halloween UN-BOO-LIEVABLE! From October 26 - 31, boys and ghouls under 12 get half off-admission tickets to the GeO-Deck when they come in costume. Enjoy Halloween-themed activities, tasty treats, and frightful photo opportunities. Special pre-school programs designed for ages 2-5 including: Tall Tales Thursday, October 26 – listen to spooktacular stories with our friends from Dallas Public Library. Seating is lounge inspired and will fill quickly. Kindermusik Frightful Friday, October 27 – enjoy freaky tunes and monster mash grooves with shakers, scarves and creepy surprises provided by Purple Nest. Both programs start at 11:00 AM. Travel to the Upside Down at a Stranger Things Halloween Bash at the Quixotic World in Deep Ellum. There, you can dine on a waffle, defeat the Demogorgon in a game of Dungeons & Dragons and gather with fellow fans to watch the first episode of Stranger Things' highly-anticipated second season. Dress as your favorite character from the show (bonus points if you bring a crushed Coca-Cola can) and compete for $200 in cash prizes during the costume contest. Don't be a Steve Harrington; mark your calendar for this spooky event and prepare yourself for a terrifying trip to the haunted town of Hawkins, Indiana. If dressing up in costume or getting scared out of your mind isn't your thing, consider enjoying the evening at Truluck's. Enjoy cocktail hour and live entertainment in the Truluck's Stone Crab Lounge 4:30pm-6:30pm daily. You'll find half-priced specialty cocktails and reduced prices on the bar menu. Through October 31, guests can enjoy a specialty Halloween cocktail named 43 Reasons to Love ($12) made with Sobieski Vodka, Orange Juice, Midori, and Fresh Lime Juice. As if all of this wasn't reason enough, Florida Stone Crab season just returned!
