Traveling for the Holidays is a great way to see the USA at its’ best….While traveling and discovering the Northeastern part of the United States you certainly need to eat a little something to keep those hunger pangs at bay. And knowing just where to eat while traveling is definitely important. But also important is being able to stay in touch with friends and family back home, or maybe you need to keep in touch with work colleagues.
While traveling throughout Boston, Maine, NYC and Philadelphia, I was able to find some of the most eclectic restaurants while traveling with my Dual Global SIM phone at hand. I was able to locate my choice of restaurants. And calls were returned but there were no incoming call charges. I was able to use that extra money towards discovering more foodie places. Here is a short list I put together of some interesting and delicious spots to savor while traveling. The following are a few Italian eateries from some of the oldest states in America.
If you make it over to “The Pine Tree State” this summer, you might want to check out Azure Cafe located in Freeport, Maine. Their menu contains over 100 different selections of wine, including some from Wine Spectator’s “Top 100” wine list. You can choose from the lighter lunch menu of seafood, Italian cuisine, sandwiches, soups, and salads, or you can go in for dinner to enjoy a heartier meal. Kelly Patrick Farrin, sous chef at Azure, was crowned 2010’s Maine Lobster Chef of the Year, so you may want to select from their Lobster Azure Insalate, Fresh Maine Lobster Roll, Steamed Maine Lobster Dinner, or their Maine Seafood Risotto.
While walking the streets of Boston, Mass., a little place called Cantina Italiana might catch your eye on Hanover Street. It began in 1931, naming it the oldest restaurant in the North End. It is now owned by Chef Fiore Colella, who owns another restaurant nearby called Ristorante Fiore, and his brother, Chuck Colella, is the executive chef. With a menu of traditional Italian pizzas, pastas, and more, you may find it difficult to decide on something and go for the “Chef’s Special of the Day.” Reviews from newcomers and regulars, alike, boast great service and food.
The Cornelia Street Café in Greenwich Village, N.Y., is a place for food, entertainment, and artists. Opened in 1977 by three artists, the café’s extensive menu includes some Italian meals, such as ravioli, but also incorporates French and American cuisine. The entertainment includes musical guests, poetry, storytelling, and art exhibitions. Take a look at the scheduled events and reserve tickets to make sure you will get in on the fun.

If you’re looking for a little entertainment with your meal, you may want to check out Bistro Romano in Philadelphia, Pa. There are murder mystery dinner theater performances on Friday and Saturday nights for those customers who like a little spice with their meals, but tickets must be purchased beforehand. You can skip the theater if you prefer a more soothing atmosphere during the weekend and listen to Craig Satchell playing the piano, as he has for the past sixteen years. They have an extensive menu with special prices on selections Monday through Thursday, and catering and delivery are also available.
