Where 30AEATS In New Orleans

Patois

I have been asked by several personal friends and fans of 30AEATS to come up with a list of some of my favorite places to nosh while visiting NOLA. There are literally hundreds of fabulous restaurants, ranging from the most modern cuisine to traditional creole fare. I also love a good “dive” and “joint”, which abound in New Orleans. My encyclopedia of NOLA fare contains newer restaurants, like a favorite called Patois, and some oldie but goodies, such as Willie Mae’s Scotch House and Dooky Chase. This particular list is simple, very scaled down, and by no means the end-all-be-all.  I know food lovers are passionate about their favorites, and may disagree with my choices, so I would appreciate negative comments to be with held, but instead for you to list your top picks in the comment section below! Please send me an email at [email protected], if you have a specific food question such as, where do I get the best po-boy in the city? I can list at least seven places that won’t disappoint, like Mahony’s on Magazine! Who has the best muffaletta you ask? The answer will be Central Grocery! The best beignets and café au lait in town, are of course served at Café Du Monde! Where is the hottest lunch place on a Friday?  Head to the downstairs dining room of Galatoire’s, and rub elbows with the true locals and business elite!

Restaurant August: Tchoupitoulas, next to Windsor Court, Warehouse District
I ate at August the first week James Beard Award- winner John Besh opened the doors to this amazing restaurant. I was with my husband, and then 8-year-old son. August continues to be our go-to restaurant for special family dinners, as it holds fond memories for us almost 10 years later.  Any restaurant John Besh is affiliated with, I would recommend.  He is uber- talented with food, an amazing businessman and a humanitarian.
