When Brian Boucher, the new online editor for Art in America, asked me if I wanted to write a piece about a nail salon at MoMA PS1 I was like, “duh.” And he was like, “I knew it was in your wheelhouse.” Or something similar.
The nail salon was called Vanity Projects, and you can read more about it here. Founded by the fabulous Rita Pinto, it has existed thus far as a pop-up, but will be housed in a permanent salon opening this summer on the Lower East Side. Basically, I’m having every birthday part for the rest of my life there.
If you have time this weekend, Vanity Projects is at PS1 for the last time. Make your appointment here.
