In what could be one of the biggest data breaches, phone figures of nearly 500 million WhatsApp druggies are put on trade online. According to a report by Cybernews, an actor posted an announcement on a hacking community forum, claiming that it’s dealing a 2022 database of 487 million WhatsApp stoner mobile figures.
The database contains mobile figures of WhatsApp druggies from 84 different countries that includes the US, the UK, Egypt, Italy, Saudi Arabia and indeed India.The information is substantially used by bushwhackers for phishing attacks. It’s thus judicious for WhatsApp druggies to refrain from calls and dispatches from unknown figures.

The trouble actor claims that the data set has over 32 million US stoner records. Simialrly, the impacted druggies are 45 million in Egypt, 35 million in Italy, 29 million in Saudi Arabia, 20 million in France and 20 million in Turkey. The database allegedly has nearly 10 million Russian and over 11 million UK citizens’ phone figures.
The report claims that the trouble actor is dealing the US dataset for$,000( approx. ₹). While the cost for the UK and Germany datasets is$,500( approx. ₹) and$,000( approx. ₹), independently.
The report further adds that the dealer claim is purely academic . More frequently, massive data sets posted online are attained by scraping, violating WhatsApp’s Terms of Service. still, the dealer claims that all the figures belong to active druggies of the Meta- possessed platform. Although it didn’t specify how he attained the database, the dealer said that they “ used their strategy” to collect the data.
This isn’t the first time Meta and its platforms have made captions for data breach. Last time, a leakster was offering information of further than 500 million Facebook druggies online for free. The blurted data also included phone figures and other details.
